After 8 months of haiku-ing on THE DAILY HAIKU we have identified through polling these top 10 themes as our favourites. Interestingly popular themes tend to be abstract and from the natural world.
Do use these as inspiration to write your own haiku with or without visual accompaniment and post here in comments.

Theme: Paths
.
Path through illness
filled with landmines and craters.
I crave a day’s peace
Theme: Trees
forest of one tree
bends alone in all seasons
hears only her own voice
Silence
The chair was absent
The book critique missed your voice
I heard your laughter
Silence in Nature
Walk with me in the
Wood. Feel Nature’s stillness. She
Repairs with birdsong…
Theme: Water
dry lake
washing my hands
with sand
Theme: Water/nature (loosly)
A duck show its bum
Diving for tasty morsels
I’d rather have cake!

Theme: Tree
Spring runs through her veins
mem’ries when the leaves were green
live in Winter dreams

My favourites are Sea/Tree/Paths.
Sea
I long to ride on
the beach, horse’s hooves kicking up – sea spray.
Trees
Trees are the lungs of
our planet, their roots connect,
their own world, wide, web!
Paths
Crossroads, which path to take, always difficult to
know, trust your instinct.

wordlessness speaks with
the language of loss … silence
