Touch
So we start again
Standing up, having fallen
Kids toddling from scratch
With wild dreams to remember
One day being loved
Not much to ask for
Like Baked Alaska
On piping hot treacle sponge
Your ice hands on me
I count your fingers
Hear your laugh, jabbing my ribs
Feel ten toes landing
Old face, worry lines
We caress and we embrace
Still loving our lives
Really enjoying your haiku sequences on the round up posts Richard
Some favourites from this period:
after rain
the wet velvet of moss
bleeding
twilight
a thimble full
of dying light
in all this doing
within the rush – somewhere
we forget to be
at ninety
granddad stopped remembering
chose birdsong
alone
through the kissing gate
embrace of warm wind
this stone
in my hand –
a homecoming
personal weather
her empty rooms
peeling horizons
sea
you get me every time
with your mood swings
ancient stones
we can only shelter
for a picnic
I can write haiku
I can write haiku
I can write haiku…
not in service
four buses in a row
one passenger
after rain
the sweetness of earth
and a wet dog
here’s May
pretending to be April
who made out like June
listening
to the ocean – to the land
my dream
early summer
walking through the long long grass
after absence – touch
fumblings
the world
we are unmaking
5am
no snooze button
on a seagull
camouflage
roadside full with bluebells and
one Red Bull can
just there ~ a rainbow
minim rest in the music
between spring showers
now blind
eaten by moths
my wedding hat
